NFL Week 2 weather updates
Buccaneers @ Panthers. There’s a chance of a passing shower or storm in Charlotte for Thursday Night Football. The overall coverage is maybe 20 percent, so even if it does rain this is far from a washout. Based on the low rain coverage and light winds, I don’t expect any significant impacts to the game. Patriots @ Dolphins. This forecast is not assuming any impact from the forming tropical system. It is an “if-there’s-no-tropical-system” forecast. If we do have a tropical storm knocking on the door this forecast will change drastically: Much better rain chances in Miami than what we are seeing for Thursday Night Football. Typical afternoon pop-up showers and storms will fire across South Florida, and there’s a decent shot that rain ends up over the field during the game. This includes the potential for heavy rain, not just a passing light shower. To add to the intrigue, winds are likely to be sustained between 10-15 mph, not quite high enough to sound the alarm but getting close. The combo here of rain and wind could be just enough to impact offenses in a negative way, but only if we do indeed get a heavy rain during the game.
UPDATE: As of Sunday morning, the Pats-Dolphins game looks much more palatable. Something like 10-mph winds and a passing shower.
UPDATE: Vikings-Packers. Chance of passing shower and light winds.
UPDATE: Browns-Jets. Chance of passing shower and light winds. Obviously, the potential for change in the Pats-Dolphins weather forecast to change is much higher than normal weeks, so stay weather aware.
