In the case of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, players need to rely on a few tips and tricks to be able to maximize the game’s save option. These tricks can become nifty lifesavers when players try to dabble into the game’s dungeons and other more intensive content.

Crossplay And Cross-Progression

Two of the most important things players may ask while playing a multi-platform game are related to crossplay and cross-progression. After all, players would want to know the extent of content saved and transferred across all platforms before deciding to try out a game.

In the case of newcomers to Cross Worlds, players may be thinking twice about trying the game unless they have a better grasp of how playing on various devices affects the player’s progress. In this regard, here are details about the Ni no Kuni MMO with regards to progression:

Does The Game Have Crossplay?

Yes, Ni no KunI: Cross Worlds does support Crossplay. What this means is that the game can be played on both mobile devices and PC while boasting the same features. The only difference here would lie in how controls work, whereas mobile platforms focus on touchpad controls whereas the PC version focuses on keyboard commands. Combat-oriented players may appreciate learning how controls work for certain Cross Worlds Classes to be able to adjust and select their preferred platform.

Does The Game Have Cross-Progression?

Yes, Cross Worlds does have Cross-Progression. What this means is that the progress of players on one platform is carried over to the next. At its core, players that have an account on PC will retain their progress, such as unlocking their Cross Worlds Class Passives and other abilities, while playing on mobile, while those on mobile platforms can play with the exact same characters if they decide to switch to the PC.

Securing Cross-Progression

While Cross Worlds does confirm both Crossplay and Cross-Progression, players need to ensure that their account is able to support both these elements in the first place. Similar to other games that have Crossplay opportunities, players are only able to have concurrent progress on multiple platforms if the account used is linked to each platform. The case is the same with Cross Worlds, where players have to do the following to secure Cross-Progression:

Create an account in the mobile game: In order for players to secure their progress in the game, they first need to setup an account in the Cross Worlds smartphone version. Go to Settings: After getting into the game world regardless of how much Cross Worlds Core Abilities and other unlockables they’ve acquired, players need to access their Settings from the Main Menu. This is done by pressing the hamburger icon on the top-right corner of the screen. Access Account Settings: After accessing the main game’s Settings, players need to head over to the Account tab to see their current account details. This is also the area where the game could help players link their accounts to various platforms. Link Accounts: Players can then see a “Link Account” section under the Account Settings, after which they can start linking their Account to various social media platforms. In the case of Cross-Progression, players have to link their e-mail.

Create A Netmarble Account

When players of Cross Worlds open the Ni no Kuni MMO launcher for the first time on PC, they will be immediately asked to enter a “linked e-mail address and password.” Unlike other MMOs, Cross Worlds doesn’t offer players to register directly to the PC. Instead, they need to do the steps above and register an account via a smartphone first, and only then can they link their progress to the PC. More than that, they also need to create a Netmarble Account in order to play across linked platforms.

The above does pose more steps for players to be able to use their Swordsman across multiple platforms, but this does ensure seamless progress-sharing between mobile and PC devices. Here’s how to do this:

Sign Up to Netmarble: After clicking on the option to link the email in the game’s smartphone version, players will be asked to create a Netmarble Account. This is a crucial step, as it’s this Netmarble login that players will be using to log into the game’s PC version. Get the Verification Email: Once players create a Netmarble Account, they have to verify the account through email. The verification email usually arrives 10 to 30 minutes after sign-up. Sign In to the PC: After confirming the email, players can then use the account to sign into the PC. It’s after this step that players can finally access their current characters.

Leaving The Game

Players who have to abruptly leave the game, be it through urgent matters or simply leaving for the day, may want to understand how closing the game client affects their progress. At its core, leaving the game in any form “saves” the game in a way akin to other titles. However, being an MMO, doing this under specific circumstances does affect the player’s progress in different ways, such as during fierce combat as a Destroyer, or while exploring as a Rogue. More specifically:

Leaving In A Safe Area

When players quit the game outside combat, which normally happens within towns and cities, they do resume their progress in the title in the area where they left off. This is similar to how most MMOs work, allowing players to resume progress almost immediately. Players who got used to farming MMOs will find this aspect of Cross Worlds’s progression much easier to grasp.

Leaving Combat

Players who accidentally leave the game while in combat will experience a similar situation as though they left in any random area. However, instead of players returning to a character in combat, they simply return to the area without engaging with enemies. This function is useful for Classes that can’t deal with aggressive opponents up close, such as the versatile Witch.

However, there’s always the chance for enemies to engage player characters as soon as they return, especially if the enemies have high-enough aggro. This usually happens when monsters are at a much higher level compared to the player characters, which then prompts them to attack players on their presence.

Leaving A Dungeon

Given the nature of a dungeon in Cross Worlds as an instanced area similar to other games, this means the Ni no Kuni MMO creates a “version” of that area exclusively for the player and their party. Leaving the game while inside the dungeon forces players to go back outside the map. This quits the current dungeon’s progress and players will have to restart the mission they’ve left.

Players who accidentally quit the game while with a party that is currently inside the dungeon may be able to return directly within the instance. This is useful for support units such as Engineers. However, doing so can have players go back to the beginning of the dungeon or near the area where they left.

Regarding Servers

While Cross-Progression allows players to retain their progress from one platform to the next in Cross Worlds, it’s important for players not to get careless as to what they do with their account. Unlike usual games that allow players to have split progress dependent on the platform, Cross-Progression ensures what happens to one platform happens to the other.

As such, players who accidentally switch Servers while playing on one platform will have the same progress reflected in the other account. Unfortunately, this will force players to lose their progress, as the game is server-dependent. Accounts have different characters and progression depending on the Server, meaning a player’s Rogue on one server will differ from another Rogue they may have in another server.
