Reporting bonuses aren’t too common, and especially not at the amount Mangold is getting. But when you’re 32 years old and playing in your 12th season, you need a little extra incentive to get to training camp. And you better believe he showed up.
While Mangold reported for duty to collect his check, others with similar bonuses haven’t been as fortunate. In 2013, 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown missed out on $2 million for practicing on his own instead of with the team. Even worse, he found out about it through Twitter.
Mangold, however, can smile, knowing he’s a lot richer.
