The Jets released Nick Mangold on Saturday after 11 seasons of manning the middle of the New York offensive line.

The center announced the move on his Twitter account, sending a message of thanks to the fans, owner Woody Johnson and the rest of the New York Jets organization.
“It meant a lot to see all the #74 jerseys in the crowd every Sunday,” Mangold wrote. “Thank you all for a fantastic 11 years!”
Mangold is a seven-time Pro Bowler and a two-time first-team All-Pro. He’s 33, but with his pedigree and reputation as a tough, physical mauler, it’s a safe bet that, if Mangold wants to continue playing, he’ll find plenty of suitors as a free agent.
UPDATE: The Jets officially announced Mangold’s release on Twitter.
Cutting Mangold will reportedly save the Jets $9.075 million.
