Sabres GM facing a busy offseason After several years of fitful rebuilding, the Buffalo Sabres got off to a promising start this season. They sat atop the Atlantic Division by late November and seemed well on their way to reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2010-11. But it was not to be. A porous defense plus the lack of secondary scoring coupled with no established starting goaltender sent the Sabres tumbling down the standings and out of postseason contention....

League executives adopted a 3-on-3 overtime format in June, but coaches are concerned about having time to adjust to the change. With that in mind, the league and its players’ union agreed to evaluate the format during select preseason games — even if the score isn’t tied at the end of regulation. The warmest months of the year were heating up even more, and it seemed a great deal of players were most looking forward to attending Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago. But when the event was hit with severe service problems and major technical issues, it was deemed a failure. Niantic CEO John Hanke has finally stepped forward to discuss the circumstances surrounding Pokemon GO Fest. Hanke took to the Niantic website to issue a statement regarding the festival’s failure....

Hanke wrote a lengthy blogpost on Niantic’s official website where he talked about his fears regarding the metaverse. Though the number of Pokemon GO players has diminished since its launch many years ago, the Pokemon-catching mobile game continues to be one of the most played titles, given the current pandemic. It seems Niantic has worked double-time to ensure that players are retained, continuing old and new events to entice Pokemon fans to remain within the game. With Pokemon GO Fest 2021 coming in full swing this upcoming summer, Niantic has likely put much importance to addressing serious issues such as the seizure risk, especially if it puts its players in danger....

The obvious implication is the two are now on speaking terms after Saban alleged Jackson State of using NIL endorsements to pay $1 million for Travis Hunter, the top player in the 2022 recruiting class. Here is the 13-second tease for the ad, which ends with the following text prominently overlaid atop the two coaches: “2 GOATS, 1 DUCK, No Beef....

Late in the fourth quarter, New York took a narrow lead. With not much time left on the clock, the game looked like it was a done deal. But with just seconds remaining on the clock, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr broke the Jets’ hearts when he connected with rookie wideout Henry Ruggs lll for the game-winning score. With the win, the Raiders move to 7-5 for the year. They remain in second place the AFC West....

The 4-7 Lions were destroyed on Thanksgiving Day by the Houston Texans, so now they have lost two straight games. Meanwhile, the Bears were clobbered on Sunday by the Green Bay Packers. Chicago has dropped five games in a row. This week marks will be the first game as interim head coach for Darrell Bevell. He was promoted after the Lions fired Matt Patricia on November 28. With Mitchell Trubisky under center, the Bears have a chance to pick up the win....
