We get it — it’s a tough 180 after being their clear-cut starter this time last year. Months after the Rams acquired him from the Eagles in the Sam Bradford trade, Foles got a three-year contract and $13.8 million in guaranteed money. But that was before Foles flamed out in his first and the team’s final season in St. Louis. He was bad in 11 starts, with only seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions....
Miami has had discussions with teams about moving running back Kenyan Drake, according to a report from FOX Sports. Drake, 25, has rushed for just 31 yards on 10 carries in the Dolphins two games so far this season. Drake was originally selected by Miami out of Alabama in the third round of the 2016 draft. He has scored nine rushing touchdowns in 50 career games. The Dolphins have been noncompetitive in their loses to the Ravens and Patriots this season and multiple players have reportedly contacted their agents with the hopes of being traded away from the team....
Now there’s another attempt at normalcy: the release of Week 1 betting lines and point spreads in Las Vegas. The Superbook at the Westgate resort printed up cards listing each of the 16 Week 1 games (yes, that includes the Raiders game). Our Other Plays went a disappointing 2-2-1. Continuing the theme of late touchdowns hurting us, the Panthers (-3/-3.5) gave up a late score on a Josh McCown 16-yard run (on 3rd & 11!), which gave the Bucs the back-door cover. A stop on that play would have forced a field goal and left our cover in order. The 49ers (+10), despite leading by four at halftime, gave up 14 unanswered in the second half, so we settled for a push....

Rookie quarterbacks haven’t exactly set the NFL on fire yet. That’s what happens when you’re, well, a rookie. Sunday’s games provided the best opportunity for the most intriguing rookie passer to get a chance to do so. Justin Fields got his first crack at starting in the NFL, and it’s going to be a day he’ll want to forget. None of the rookies have reached “concerning” levels yet. Not even Trevor Lawrence, who turned in another bad game this week, nor Mac Jones, who had his first real bad game on Sunday....
Few deliver the twists and turns we saw in Week 4. Jameis Winston threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns against the Rams, leading the Buccaneers to a wild 55-40 victory despite Jared Goff’s career-high 517 passing yards. In Detroit, the Chiefs scored a touchdown in the final seconds to remain undefeated and foil the Lions’ upset bid. In another surprising turn of events, the Browns took control of the AFC North for the first time since 2014 as second-year rusher Nick Chubb exploded for three touchdowns in Baltimore against the league’s third-ranked rushing defense....
Seamer Ngidi has not featured for his country since November due to a knee injury but he has taken six wickets in two games for the Titans in the Momentum Cup since returning to fitness. The 14-man Proteas squad also includes Anrich Nortje, the 25-year-old bowler earning a maiden call-up. Amla has been left out, though reports suggest he has not been dropped and that South Africa could instead by exploring options ahead of this year’s Cricket World Cup in England....
On Friday, the league announced its players will be allowed to participate in the Games scheduled to be held in Beijing from Feb. 4-20, 2022; the hockey tournament begins on Feb. 9. The NHL Players’ Association sent out a memo to its members announcing the agreement had been made. Players will have the ability to opt out of participation and there will not be any insurance provided for COVID-related illnesses....

Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri has been suspended three games for “recklessly” boarding the Bruins’ Tommy Wingels during Thursday’s Game 1, the league announced Friday. Heading into his third offseason as the Sabres general manager, Jason Botterill is likely feeling pressure from the club’s ownership and long-suffering Buffalo fans to jump-start a stalled rebuild. He wasted little time shaking things up behind the bench, firing head coach Phil Housley after two disappointing seasons. Finding a suitable replacement for Housley is an obvious priority. The Sabres are making their fifth coaching change since 2013 and there’s a critical need for stability behind the bench....
Lovejoy, 35, annnounced his retirement during a Wednesday evening appearance on NHL Network. He endured a long road to the NHL, turning pro in 2007 after four years of college hockey with Boston College and Dartmouth as an undrafted free agent. Lovejoy made his NHL debut on Dec. 8, 2008, but bounced back and forth between the Penguins and Pittsburgh’s AHL club until he was traded to Anaheim in 2013....
Alzner has experienced the daily preparation and grind, as well as the pain of playing through various injuries day after day. Chubb suffered a calf injury during their 47-42 loss against the Chargers last week. He hasn’t returned to practice and was confirmed out Friday morning, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Kyrgios took issue with the move and asked the umpire to default Tstisipas. When the umpire made no indication of booting Tsitsipas from the match, Kyrgios stopped play to yell at the umpire and refused to play for several minutes.
