Elliott was handcuffed at the festival after shoving an event staffer, a TMZ Sports report stated. According to a report from Yahoo Sports, which cited two unidentified league sources, the league will likely review video of the Las Vegas incident to determine if Elliott violated the terms of previous suspension guidelines. The altercation is “clearly” subject to review by Goodell under the league’s personal conduct policy, the report noted, especially considering Elliott’s previous six-game suspension at the start of the 2017 season for alleged physical abuse against an ex-girlfriend....

The union’s position, the report said, is that Goodell is only allowed to fine, suspend or terminate a player’s contract. He doesn’t have the right to add other disciplinary measures. The NHL Board of Governors unanimously approved adding Seattle as the league’s 32nd franchise on Tuesday, with play set to begin in 2021 instead of 2020 to allow enough time for arena renovations. The as-yet unnamed franchise will be the Emerald City’s first major winter sports team since the NBA’s SuperSonics left town in 2008. “Today is a day for celebration in a great city that adores and avidly supports its sports teams and for our 101-year-old sports league,” Commissioner Gary Bettman said....

Last year saw a few expected names in Connor McDavid (Hart Trophy), Auston Matthews (Rocket Richard Trophy) and Aleksander Barkov (Selke Trophy). The Golden Knights eliminated the Winnipeg Jets with a 2-1 road victory in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final Sunday afternoon to secure a spot in the Stanley Cup Final. Vegas, which is a league-best 12-3 in the playoffs, will face either the Tampa Bay Lightning or Washington Capitals in the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. Edmonton has been in contact with the Hurricanes regarding pending unrestricted free agent Petr Mrazek, according to TSN. Mikko Koskinen recently signed a three-year deal with Edmonton last year, but he was inconsistent in goal and the team would clearly like to supplement him at the position. Edmonton traded its other goalie, Cam Talbot, to the Flyers during the season. He started the year in goal for the Oilers but lost playing time when the team hired Ken Hitchcock as its interim coach....

The Cubs were in St. Louis with two games remaining, but Castellanos was dealing with a groin injury and wasn’t going to play either of those two contests; his Cubs had already been eliminated, despite the herculean efforts of Castellanos in his two months with the club. He had been traded from Detroit to Chicago at the July 31 trade deadline, and in 51 games with his new club, in the heat of the pennant race, Casteallanos had 37 extra-base hits — 16 homers and 21 doubles — hit ....

Kristof, who announced his candidacy in late October, has received donations from across the country, including from the Angelina Jolie Family Trust, which gifted him $10,000 in support, according to the AP. Kristof’s camp said that 2,522 Oregon residents in every county except Sherman County have contributed to his campaign and that they have received many donations from small donors who have given less than $100.
